Langhorne Creek’s long-dreamed discovery trail is officially on the way, after the Federal Government confirmed $7.06M in funding.
The 2.8-kilometre multi-purpose path will weave through the township, linking iconic cellar doors and landmarks, from Bremerton Wines to Bleasdale Winery, with stops at Memorial Park and Frank Potts Reserve.
Alexandrina mayor Keith Parkes said the trail would be “a beautiful, interesting, safe and accessible way for visitors and locals to explore this pocket-sized historic wine region by foot or by bike.”
Langhorne Creek Grape and Wine executive officer Lian Jaensch called the investment “a game changer” for tourism and the community. She said it would also deepen ties with the Ngarrindjeri nation while giving visitors more reasons to linger.
Detailed planning and design work will now get underway, with construction timelines to be announced in the coming months.
