The Green Lanterns are back, and hopefully Ryan Reynolds can finally forget all about the 2011 movie.
James Gunn has rebooted the DC universe (a reboot which may get re-re-rebooted depending on how the WB sale goes) and one of the next projects on the horizon is his universes take on the Green Lanterns. We may have already met Guy Gardner in the 2025 Superman film, but the series will be focusing on two different Lanterns. Our dual leads for the series are an aged veteran Green Lantern in Hal Jordan and an upcoming recruit Green Lantern in John Stewart. You can catch the trailer below!
Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Are we sure this is a Green Lantern show? Cause this really feels True Detective season 6 and not Green Lantern. Not complaining, I look forward to seeing what the plan is here and how they execute it. But where’s the corp? Where’s Sinestro? Oa? IS IT CALLED LANTERNS CAUSE THERE ISN’T A SINGLE DROP OF GREEN IN THIS SHOW PERIOD?!
I’m calming down. The show looks like it’ll be a hit HBO crime drama, but the Green Lantern connection it holds and how it’ll meld these two things is something I’m intrigued to see.
Lanterns releases in August of this year on HBO Max.
