A new favourite has emerged in the River Murray, two strong sides across our competitions have been bundled out in straight sets and it’ll be Kersbrook and Macclesfield in the first confirmed grand final for our local footy leagues Catch up on all the action here:
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)
Kersbrook have come from the clouds to beat Bridgewater by 29 points (10.12 72 to 6.7 43) in the Hills Country Division prelim final on Saturday, locking in their first grand final appearance in five years.
Bridgewater led by 24 points at quarter time but Kersbrook turned the game after that, kicking nine goals to one in the last three quarters to book their place against Macclesfield next week.
Over in Division One, Lobethal have dropped out of the finals in straight sets, after Uraidla Districts held on to win by 16 points in yesterday’s semi-final (14.10 94 to 12.6 78).
They’ll now battle Hahndorf in next week’s prelim, after Onkaparinga Valley booked their first grand final appearance in 7 years with a 25-point win on Saturday (10.9 69 to 6.8 44).
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Jervois has announced themselves as the new premiership favourite of the River Murray Footy League, after they booked their place in the grand final with a convincing win over Coorong Cats on Saturday.
The Cats have barely put a foot wrong in years, however the Bluds sent a statement to win their second qualifying final by 38 points (16.7 103 to 9.11 65), led by stars Lachie Thomas and Peter Zarantenello.
Coorong will now face Mannum in the preliminary final next week, after the Roos finished strongly in their semi-final yesterday to beat Imperial by 20 points (10.10 70 to 7.8 50).
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Myponga-Sellicks have been bundled out of the Great Southern Footy League finals in straight sets after another heartbreaking loss yesterday, this time to Langhorne Creek in the semi-final.
The Mudlarks made a game of it late after trailing throughout, however it was the Hawks who pulled off the upset on the road to keep their season alive with a 3-point win (11.13 79 to 11.10 76).
They’ll face Mount Compass in the prelim final, after McLaren Districts comfortably booked their place in the grand final with a 35-point win (7.15 57 to 3.4 22).
