The Labor Government’s plan to cap allied health treatment for veterans has been scrapped, after extensive pressure mounted against the move.
The proposal would have forced any veteran whose physiotherapy, psychology or rehabilitation reached $5,000 in a year to re-apply to keep treatment their own clinician had already prescribed.
Independent Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie welcomed the decision after months of campaigning against the measure.
“I welcome the Government listening to veterans and removing the proposed cap,” Sharkie said.
“I’ve been clear that veterans should be able to access the allied health treatment they need based on their clinical circumstances, not an arbitrary dollar figure.”
