Nairne History Festival

Historic 1800s Town of Nairne Opens its Doors for the 2025 History Festival!
The Nairne & Districts Residents Association and the Nairne Museum are pleased to announce the
2025 Nairne History Festival, running throughout May as part of the statewide History Festival
organised by the History Trust of South Australia.
Amongst the natural beauty of Nairne lies a rich history dating back to 1839, just three years after the
Colony of South Australia was settled. This May, local historians and community members invite visitors
and past residents to explore and celebrate this heritage through a range of exciting activities and events.
The Nairne Museum, housed in the historic Institute building on the town’s heritage-listed main street,
will be the central hub for festival information and activities.
The Museum will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm throughout May (excluding Sunday 11th and Saturday 31st).
Visitors are invited to embark on a self-guided walk or self-drive tour, or simply explore the historic main street and enjoy the hospitality of Nairne’s local shops and cafes.
The Opening Day of Saturday May 3rd will feature several historic buildings open to the public, with
special displays showcased.
The Nairne Church on Allargue Street will feature a “chat corner” where long time and returning residents can meet to share their stories. Guides to the Open Day events, buildings and displays can be picked up from the Museum.
The Festival will officially commence with an opening ceremony led by His Worship the Mayor of
Mount Barker District Council, Mr. David Leach, at 9:30am on Saturday May 3rd at the Village Green,
adjacent to the Nairne Museum.
