Reedy Creek Crash Site Memorial

In 2007, the Kingston RSL was responsible for the establishment of a memorial to five young airmen who were killed in an aircraft accident at 1430 (2:30pm) on 11th August 1942 whilst on a training flight from Mount Gambier
in an RAAF Anson AW678 aircraft. The crew honoured are:
23964 Sergeant William Nathaniel Higham FLEMING. Aged 20 of Alderny, Qld
405197 Sergeant John Edward MOOREHOUSE. Aged 27 of Bundaberg, Qld
416804 Sergeant Malcom Albert THIELE. Aged 20 of Mount Torrens, SA
410473 Leading Aircra􀅌man William Ross Bremner FENTON. Aged 20 of Mitcham, Vic
410476 Leading Aircra􀅌man Charles Thomas FLETCHER. Aged 28 of Warburton, Vic

On Sunday 10th August 2025 the Kingston SE RSL will again host a short commemoration ceremony at the Reedy Creek RAAF Crash Site Memorial.

The memorial is located on Princes Highway, Reedy Creek, South Australia,
approximately 20km south-east of Kingston SE.

The service will commence at 1415h (2:15pm) and conclude at 1445h (2:45pm). An afternoon tea will be provided at the Kingston SE RSL, 40 James Street, Kingston SE, afterwards.
The event will be attended by Mr Tony Pasin MP, Federal Member for Barker. This year, with more awareness and lead time, there will be representatives from RAAF Base Edinburgh, Air Force Cadets from Mount Gambier and the Air Force Association of South Australia in attendance. It is also expected that members of RSL SA, Kingston SE RSL, Robe RSL, Lucindale RSL, Mount Gambier RSL, Kingston Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Reedy Creek CFS will be present. Relatives of at least one of the Airmen who lost their lives in the accident are to attend.
