Scams and Cyber Safety

Local Member David Basham and South Australia Police (SAPOL) are hosting a free Cyber Safety Awareness session to help the community stay safe online. Senior Constables Libby Bruce and Lucas Perry from the Hills Fleurieu Crime Prevention Section will lead the presentation, sharing vital information on how to recognize and avoid scams.

This one-hour presentation will cover common contact methods used by scammers, red flags to watch for, trending scams, and tips on protecting personal information and passwords. The session will conclude with advice on reporting scams and seeking support.

Every year, scams cost Australians hundreds of millions of dollars and cause severe emotional harm.

This session is a chance to learn about online safety, identifying scam methodologies, and implementing prevention strategies. By being smarter with your data and knowing how to spot scams, you can protect yourself from identity theft, financial loss, and other serious consequences

The Victor Harbor Library also supports this initiative by providing digital skills training and technology help sessions.

To secure your spot at the Cyber Crime Prevention Presentation, register at www.davidbasham.com.au/scams or contact the Electorate Office at 8552 2152.

For additional technology assistance, contact the Victor Harbor Library at 8551 0730 to arrange a one-on-one session.
