The long-discussed Bridge Watersport Park has received a significant funding boost, with state and federal governments combining for a $1.75 million dollar investment.

When built, the facility will house the state’s first cable wakeboard park, along with an overarching permanent aqua park and retail and café facilities.

The project has been in the works for almost a decade, with the first set of plans emerging in 2019 and planning consent granted in 2021.

The announcement this morning comes as part of the Sustainable Communities Program, which is being utilised to bolster the Murraylands and Riverland’s tourism offerings as an offset against potential negative impacts of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

Senator Marielle Smith says it’s a big investment into the region.

“Murray Bridge is a thriving and resilient community that I have been proud to advocate for since I was elected to the Senate,” Smith said.

“I’m delighted that the Albanese Labor Government is working hand-hand with the Malinauskas Government to invest in new and unique tourism opportunities for Murray Bridge and the River Murray communities.”
