A new regional adventure play space planned for Mt Barker is taking its first steps, with families being asked what they want to see included.
The proposed facility off Bald Hills Road at the Summit Precinct is intended to be more than a traditional playground, with the Mount Barker District Council hoping to create a destination that attracts families from across the Adelaide Hills and beyond.
The site will sit alongside the Summit Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Summit Sport and Recreation Park and Laratinga Wetlands, with the eventual design expected to respond to the surrounding environment and local heritage.
Council is currently gathering ideas about what makes a great play space, including the types of activities and experiences children and families would like.
Families can have their say in person this Saturday the 19th of September, with a community drop-in session running from 10am to 2pm at the Summit Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Alternatively, those interested can see the plans and share their views online via Your Say Mount Barker.
The project is still in its early stages, with concept planning expected to begin later this year and the final concept to follow in 2027.
