The SA Country Fire Service was alerted to a fire in Lower Hermitage at around 3:40pm yesterday, Tuesday 8 May.

On arrival crews found a fire burning quickly up hill in a westerly direction. Approximately 60 CFS volunteer firefighters, supported by Farm Fire Units, worked to contain the fire and were able to save several properties in the area.

Due to the dry conditions and areas that were difficult to access the fire spread into steep terrain, however, crews were able to contain the fire to three hectares.
