The South Australian Whale Centre has backtracked on its first spotting of the new season, after two Southern Right Whales were thought to be sighted on Thursday.
The pair were seen 750 metres offshore near Cape du Couedic at approximately 1:35pm, with the Centre believing it was the first sighting of Southern Right Whales since early September.
The centre sent out a message on Facebook, encouraging tourists and locals alike to begin their searches for activity in the waters.
However, after an expert examined the photos, they found it was a blue whale instead; a sighting which is still considered rare within the local waters.
