One of McLaren Vale’s most successful gins distilleries has been sold to one of the largest beverage companies in the world.
Never Never Distilling Co., which operates out of Chalk Hill, has been purchased by Japanese giant Asahi Beverages for an undisclosed fee, just eight years after it was started in a small shed in Adelaide’s western suburbs.
The original founders will remain with Never Never despite the company changing hands, with co-founder George Georgiadis saying it will have no impact on day-to-day operations at Chalk Hill.
The 15 full time staff and 30 casuals will also continue on unaffected.
Never Never’s range will now be sold through Carlton and United Breweries, which boasts an extensive and global range of beer, wine and spirits.
