A controversial fast-food development in Strathalbyn is now under construction.
KFC branding has arrived on site at the corner of South and East Terraces this week, months after the proposal was approved.
It becomes the first fast food chain to make its way into Strathalbyn.
The project drew a petition to State Parliament over concerns about its location near schools, but transport authorities determined it would not negatively impact traffic.
The petition garnered more than 1000 signatures.
The Fleurieu Regional Assessment Panel gave the tick of approval to the development application last year, stating in the lead-up that public opinion on the development wouldn’t sway their judgements.
