Businesses across the Hills, South Coast and Murraylands have bucked the trend in regional SA when it comes to their optimism.

The latest BankSA State Monitor Survey has shown the Southern zone’s business confidence rose sharply between April and July (102.2 to 116), despite facing significant challenges from the drought and the algal bloom event.

The Mid North, Riverland, North and West zones by comparison all saw large drops.

Conversely, the Southern zone’s consumer confidence dropped the most in regional SA (-1.4 to 99.8), however buyers locally still remain optimistic overall.

The survey was taken from July 9-16, prior to any formal announcement of an algal bloom support package and after Golden North had announced that they were relocating from Laura to the Murraylands.
