It’s wide open in Division One of the Hills Footy League after Nairne Bremer and Hahndorf fell, and two of last year’s grand finalists across the River Murray and Great Southern are spluttering. Catch up on all of Saturday’s action here:
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Div One results here, Country Division results here)
Division One of the Hills Footy League is looking as open as it’s been in recent memory, after both Nairne Bremer and Hahndorf lost as part of Round 5 action on Saturday.
The Rams were the last team to be undefeated, however Mount Barker changed that with a wire-to-wire 39-point win, while Hahndorf lost their second consecutive match for the first time in 10 years after Mount Lofty run over the top of them to win by 13 points.
Elswhere, Uraidla Districts held on in a low-scoring thriller to beat Onkaparinga Valley by 6 points, while Lobethal beat Blackwood by 40.
Over in the Country Division, Meadows won a 5-point thriller over Gumeracha, while Echunga remained top of the table with a 41-point win over Kangarilla.
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
The rollercoaster premiership defence of Myponga-Sellicks has seen another dip, after Encounter Bay put in a strong showing to beat them by 11 as part of Round 6 action in the Great Southern Footy League.
The Mudlarks started well and lead by 12 at quarter time, however the Bays managed to wrestle back control and hold out for a key win, which moves them into fourth.
Other key results saw Yankalilla tally their second win of the year with a 36-point victory over Goolwa/Port Elliot, while McLaren Districts, Willunga and Victor Harbor all won by over 100 points.
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Tailem Bend have moved into the top five of the River Murray Footy League, after they grinded past a spluttering Mypolonga to win by 17 points on Saturday.
The Eagles are proving to be a much-improved side under Tyson Edwards in 2025, however were forced to come from four goals down at quarter time and despite their inaccuracy, managed to tally their third win of the season.
In other matches from the round, Imperial bested Rambler by 28 in the Murray Bridge derby and Coorong and Jervois both won by 93 points.
