The ground has been broken on a brand-new health hub for Mount Barker, with the heritage building in its place now being torn down.
The house, which was built more than 100 years ago, was acquired as part of a three-site deal by Leyton Property, after efforts to maintain the building were unsuccessful over the years.
The $20 million project, which will stand on the corner of Adelaide Road and Druids Avenue, will play host to a larger site for Jones Radiology, which says they’ve outgrown their current premises just down the road.
A series of other health professionals will occupy the remaining space in the 1500sqm development.
The health hub is expected to open in the third quarter of next year.
