Hundreds of Murray Bridge households could save around $575 a year under a new community battery proposal.
A State Government plan for Homburg Drive would store cheap daytime renewable power and feed it back to low-income homes each evening.
The Murray Bridge council says the battery would be confined to a small portion of Homburg Reserve away from the more popular areas of the park.
Tenants in Housing Trust properties will be first in line for the benefits, with no application required to be a part of the program.
Mayor Wayne Thorley says the installation would bring Murray Bridge in line with other regional councils who have also participated in the emPowering SA scheme, with 18 other batteries in line for installation across SA.
Public feedback is open on the Let’s Talk website until the 16th of January.
