Two Queenslanders have faced court after a pair of alleged break-ins in the Adelaide Hills that ended with a stolen car being tracked to Whyalla.
Police allege a 30-year-old man broke into a home at Oakbank about 7.30am on Thursday the 27th of February while the occupants were sleeping. A short time later, officers say he was assisted by a 25-year-old woman to enter a Nairne property, where the resident was confronted and threatened before handing over keys to a Nissan station wagon.
The stolen vehicle was allegedly used to take fuel without payment at a Birdwood service station about 8.30am. It was later sighted travelling on the Lincoln Highway at Whyalla about 11.30am on Friday the 28th of February.
Patrols arrested the 25-year-old woman on Iron Knob Road near Whyalla about 12.30pm. A short time later, the 30-year-old man was stopped while driving the Nissan on the Lincoln Highway.
Both have been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated robbery, illegal use of a motor vehicle and other offences. They were refused police bail and appeared in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on Monday the 2nd of March.
The Nissan has been seized for forensic examination.
