Round Four Footy Wrap – 6th May

Another eventful Saturday of local footy saw two top-of-the-table clashes and a brutal thumping take the headlines. Catch up with all the results here:

RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

The Coorong Cats are now the last undefeated team in the River Murray Footy League, after cruising past Mannum in the top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

The Roos’ surprising start to the season was dealt a harsh reality check by the Cats, who dominated from start to finish to win 68 points and move to 4-0.

Other results from the round saw the favourites win their matches, with Mypolonga and Imperial winning by more than six goals each, while Jervois held off a sharpshooting Rambler to win by four points. 

GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

Willunga’s bad start to the season has gotten worse on Saturday, after premiership contender Myponga/Sellicks breezed past them to keep them winless after four rounds in the Great Southern Footy League.

The Mudlarks were dominant throughout, condemning last year’s grand finalists in the Demons to 9th on the table and two and a half games back from the top five already.

The team below them in Goolwa/Port Elliot was on the end of a historic thumping, with league leaders Victor Harbor winning by 328 points in a 50-goal onslaught.

HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)

Hahndorf has solidified their claim as the league leader once again in Division One of the Hills Footy League, after beating Mount Lofty by 35 points in the top-of-the-table matchup on Saturday.

The Pies pulled away from the Devils in the second quarter and never looked back, with new recruit Riley Clamp kicking six goals to keep Hahndorf undefeated for 2024.

The rest of the league tightened up; third-placed Lobethal lost to the previously winless Blackwood, while Onkaparinga Valley pipped Uraidla Districts by 19 points.

Over in the Country Division, Meadows stay undefeated themselves after beating Torrens Valley by 19 points while Macclesfield and Kangarilla picked up wins as well.
