Mount Barker-based historian and educator Clare Dorey received a Veterans SA grant to research South Australian service personnel who sacrificed their lives serving Australia during World War II.
While researching and writing the book Stories from Stone: Honouring Mount Barker’s WWII Memorial Men, Clare joined Adam and Jennie on 5MU each week to share the stories of those she discovered.
Episode One: Clare introduces the project as she begins her research.
Episode Two: Larger-than-life character Ben Nicker volunteered to enlist in World War II, first serving in the Middle East, then in Greece.

Episode Five: Richard Fisher from Littlehampton and Norman Verdun Duffield from Nairne both fought on the treacherous Kokoda Track.
