Three men have been charged following an anti-corruption investigation into South Australia’s driver licensing system, including a serving police officer who has now been suspended.

SA Police say a 42-year-old man from Adelaide’s southern suburbs, who worked as an Authorised Examiner, has been charged with abuse of public office and dishonest dealing with documents.

Authorised Examiners are approved to conduct practical driving tests and issue the certificates needed for drivers to obtain or upgrade their licence. Police allege the man misused that position.

Detectives have also charged a 45-year-old police officer from the southern suburbs and a 49-year-old State Government employee from the Adelaide Hills. Both are accused of aiding and abetting the examiner and dishonestly dealing with documents.

It will be alleged the pair were working as driving instructors at the time of the offending.

All three men were arrested yesterday, Thursday the 19th of March, and are due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on the 3rd of June.

SA Police say the investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this stage.

Anyone with information on the matter is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
