Our regions are continuing to grow quickly, with the latest migration data from Regional Australia Institute showing a surge on the South Coast in particular.
The Victor Harbor area recorded a 400% increase in inter-regional migration from 12 months ago, making it the fastest growing region in Australia.
Inter-regional is defined as someone who was living out in regional Australia, before moving to another regional location.
The Alexandrina, Yankalilla, Mid Murray and Victor Harbor LGA’s all saw overall increases, with Kangaroo Island recording a slight decrease.
The Regional Movers Index also highlighted a growing trend of Adelaide residents leaving for regional areas; 6% of the nation’s city-leavers were from SA’s largest city, as opposed to 2% a year prior.
