The ever-growing concern around AI being used in the workplace continues to mount as businesses outsource tasks to AI softwares more and more. One that I even I wouldn’t have predicted to happen though, was what happened with Amazon.

The super store mega-giant that is Amazon, renowned for their success from the distribution and selling of small goods, to even their own dedicated streaming service with original content has used AI for a simple task and are now suffering the price. In the lead up to the highly anticipated second season of the Prime Video original series, Fallout. Amazon offered a recap of the events that unfolded in season one, but used AI to tell the tale of events.

If you haven’t seen the show you mightn’t even notice what the recap got wrong. In the recap (spoiler alert) the AI recaps that at the end of the first season Lucy’s father runs away to New Vegas, then the Ghoul prompts Lucy she could “die or leave with him”, which never actually happened. Lucy herself was adamant on following him and the Ghoul never threatened her life here.

Another mishap the recap mistakenly made was in misinterpreting when things happened in the show. The show takes on a retro-futuristic appearance. So, when the show ACTUALLY begins in the year 2077 the AI had instead stated that these scenes are set in a 1950’s America.

Since this was released Amazon has since pulled the recap from Prime Video.

Fallout Season 2 drops on Prime Video December 17th.
