Following an alarming TikTok livestream that left viewers deeply concerned on Tuesday night, Perez Hilton’s family has released an official update regarding his hospitalisation.
The 48-year-old celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, is currently receiving medical care after an apparent self-harm attempt at his Miami home.
The Family’s Plea for Privacy
Taking to his well-known gossip website, Hilton’s family shared a message of gratitude with his followers.
“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the statement read. Confirming that his well-being is their main focus, the family asked the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
The update concluded with thanks from “The Perez Hilton Team and Family.” Hilton is a father to three children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, but reports confirm he was entirely alone in the house during the broadcast.
Late-Night Emergency Response
The terrifying incident unfolded late on Tuesday, August 4. According to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, multiple emergency calls flooded in around 10:41 pm regarding a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.
Fire and police units quickly responded to the active scene. After initially monitoring the situation from outside, authorities gained entry to the home at around 11:00 pm. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the 2000s pop culture icon was safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.
