Four local footy clubs will get a boost from the SANFL, as part of the final round of the $8m SA Footy Facilities fund.
Encounter Bay ($75,000) and Echunga ($21,905) will both receive money for lighting projects, Hahndorf ($300,000) will be able to redevelopment their changerooms and Torrens Valley ($11,994) will upgrade their drainage.
Two local councils will also get some help with footy-related projects, with the Mid-Murray ($85,000) and Mt Barker ($22,550) councils both successful.
The fund has now finished after a three-year commitment back in 2023, with Gather Round’s future still unconfirmed for next year.
SANFL CEO Darren Chandler says they’re proud of the funding program’s impact.
“We have an obligation to provide the best facilities possible to meet the needs of our players, umpires, administrators and spectators for many years to come, and encourage new participants to join their local club,” Chandler said.
“It is important to emphasise that clubs right across the state have benefited from the Facilities Fund with over 50% of the funding allocated to regional areas.”
