Carrickalinga Arson Suspect to Face Court

A South Coast man is due to face court today following an assault and house fire at Carrickalinga.

About 2.50am yesterday, Sunday 4 June, emergency services were called to a home on Carrickalinga Road after reports three people had been assaulted by a person known to them and the house where the incident occurred was on fire.

The victims, a 34-year-old Carrickalinga woman, 48-year-old Carrickalinga man and 52-year-old Keyneton man, received non-life threatening injuries, the 34-year-old and 52-year-old were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police allege that upon arrival at the scene, a suspect was caught attempting to leave on a motorbike. The 37-year-old local was arrested and has been charged with assault, two counts of causing serious harm and arson. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today, Monday 5 June.

Significant damage was caused to the house (around $250,000) with CFS able to bring the fire quickly under control and prevent spread to nearby homes. Crime Scene officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
