One of the biggest superbikes competitions in the world is coming to the Murraylands.

At an announcement made this morning by Dr Sam Shahin, Managing Director of Shell V-Power Motorsport Park and Premier Peter Malinauskas among others, the FIM Superbike World Championship will hold an annual round in Tailem Bend from 2028 onwards.

The first event of its kind for the Bend Motorsport Park is expected to be in February, with fans encouraged to register their interest now to hear about ticketing information when it emerges.

It follows the announcement earlier this year by the State Government, with the Adelaide CBD hosting a round of the MotoGP, meaning the state will now have both major global superbikes championships.

With no further details announced at this stage, WorldSBK Sporting Director Gregorio Lavilla said the move to Shell V-Power Motorsport Park represented an exciting new chapter for the championship.

“We are delighted to announce The Bend as the future home of the Australian Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship,” Lavilla said.

“Australia has always held a special place within WorldSBK, and it remains an important market for our championship, manufacturers, teams and fans.”

“The Bend is an impressive venue with exceptional facilities and a strong commitment to motorsport. We believe it provides an outstanding platform for WorldSBK and we are excited to begin this journey together from 2028.”
