Great Southern Womens’ B&F Tied After Thrilling Medal Count

The Great Southern Womens Footy League medal count has finished in an exciting tie, with the top three players only separated by a single vote. 

Yankalilla/Encounter Bay Stingray Jemma Ellis and McLaren Districts’ Layla Rogers finished locked at 19 votes apiece, and were both named the open womens’ best and fairest for 2023. 

Goolwa/Port Elliot’s Renae Moon narrowly finished on 18 votes, however picked up the coaches award earlier on in the evening.

The Under 17’s had a clear winner however, with Victor Harbor’s Taya Parisi charging clear to win by six votes. 

Parisi tallied 22 votes after a dominant season, with Willunga’s Emily Steele and Eden Coleman rounding out the podium.

The medal count comes ahead of the first week of finals for the open women, with Willunga hosting McLaren District in the qualifying final and Goolwa/Port Elliot taking on Yankalilla/Encounter Bay in the elimination final.
