There is a significant investment into aerial firefighting in the 2023-24 State Budget.

An additional $26.7 million will be spent over four years to support the addition of up to nine aircraft and three ongoing full-time Country Fire Service (CFS) employees.

This will be the largest number of aircraft ever to support South Australia during bushfires and the CFS says it will play a key role in supporting on-ground firefighters.

A modern and user-friendly incident management system will also be built with support from three new staff members with an investment of $2.1 million to replace the old CRIIMSON system.

The wellbeing of the workforce has also been considered, with $1.9 million delivered to SAFECOM over four years for additional mental health support for emergency services volunteers, staff, and their families.
