Murray Bridge Arson Suspect Charged

A man has been arrested after a suspicious fire at a Murray Bridge doctors’ surgery.

About 1.30am on Sunday 15 October, police and fire crews responded to reports of a fire at the Adelaide Road clinic.

Emergency services found a wheelie bin alight against the building.  The fire spread into the wall cavity and caused fire and smoke damage to the premises before being extinguished by MFS crews. The fire also damaged a nearby restaurant.

Other bins were also found alight nearby.

There were no reported injuries.

After further investigation, detectives from Murray Bridge CIB arrested a 33-year-old Murray Bridge man yesterday, Monday 16 October, and charged him with two counts of arson.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 17 October.
