RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Imperial have handed defending champions Jervois their first loss since the 2022 grand final, winning by 40 points on Saturday as part of Round Two River Murray action.
The Double Blues jumped out of the blocks to lead by 20 at quarter time and held on for a comfortable win, with Louis DeMichele and Jack Penfold (5 goals) leading the way for the hosts.
In other matches, Southern Mallee’s difficult start to the season has continued after a 24-point loss to Mypolonga, while Mannum and Coorong Cats both won by more than 50 points each.
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Victor Harbor have stamped their claim as a genuine contender in the Great Southern on Saturday, beating defending champions McLaren Districts by 22 points in Round Two play.
The Roos maintained a three-goal buffer throughout the contest and kept the Eagles at bay, becoming just one of two teams to be undefeated after two rounds, with the other being Encounter Bay after another upset win; this time a 4-point victory over Langhorne Creek.
Other results saw Strathalbyn win a low-scoring thriller against Willunga, Myponga/Sellicks beat Mount Compass by 17 and Yankalilla heaped more misery onto fellow cellar dwellers Goolwa Port Elliot, winning by a whopping 140 points.
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUES (Division One results here – Country Division results here)
A stunning display of sharpshooting has helped Mount Lofty send a big statement in Division One of the Hills Footy League on Saturday.
Facing the defending champion Nairne Bremer on the road, the Devils kicked 16.2 to win by 23 points, despite having seven less scoring shots than the hosts.
Other games saw Hahndorf cruise easily past Echunga, while Onkaparinga Valley and Mount Barker each tallied wins.
Over in the Country Division, Meadows started their season in style with a high-scoring 19-point win over Kangarilla, with Gumeracha beating Torrens Valley and Kersbrook pipping Maccy by 9 in the other games.
