Tony Pasin has secured a frontbench role within the Liberal party as Federal Opposition Leader Angus Taylor unveils his new-look Shadow Cabinet.

In the reshuffle, Tim Wilson has been appointed Shadow Treasurer, while Deputy Liberal Leader Jane Hume will take on a broad economic brief as Shadow Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations, Productivity and Deregulation.

The Federal Member for Barker will serve as Shadow Minister for Scrutiny of Government Waste and Accountability, as well as Shadow Minister Assisting for Fisheries and Forestry.

“This portfolio has a clear purpose. It is about scrutiny across every area of government, ensuring transparency, challenging wasteful spending and restoring discipline to public administration,” Pasin said.

He has linked the role to ongoing cost-of-living pressures, arguing households were tightening their belts and government should do the same.

Pasin will also assist in the forestry and fisheries portfolios, industries central to many communities across Barker, including the South East, Murraylands and Riverland.

Taylor said the reshaped team blends experience with a new generation of Coalition figures, with the economy among his top priorities as Opposition Leader.
