A 65-year-old driver is in hospital after a serious truck crash at the base of the South Eastern Freeway this morning, which caused significant peak-hour traffic delays.

Police and emergency services were alerted to the incident at 3:50am this morning, where a concrete-pumping truck lost control and rolled after colliding with a brick wall.

It’s believed the driver was cut from the cabin and sent to hospital after sustaining serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The cleanup and investigation of the incident forced the closure of Cross Road between Fullarton Road and Glen Osmond Road, causing significant delays at one of SA’s most high-volume areas.

The South Eastern Freeway remained open despite the traffic restrictions.

Crews are continuing to work at the scene, with anyone travelling through the area urged to visit trafficsa.sa.gov.au for the latest information on road closures.
