The Hope Forest Dam Failure warning has been downgraded to an “Advice” level.
Crews of SES volunteers and personnel have been responding to the job since Sunday, following last week’s heavy rainfall.
A controlled breach of the dam has been completed using an excavator to dig a spillway allowing water levels to drop.
Due to the excavator work, the likelihood of the dam failing and causing an uncontrolled release is reduced.
Traffic management remains in place, but depending on how quickly the water level reduces, roads may reopen as soon as it’s considered safe.
Crews have also managed to secure the safety of the Basket Range dam which had a Watch and Act alert earlier this week.
